Registry Solution Technical Information

AusRegistry International's Registry Solution is designed to work with best of breed software, and requires the following software be available in order to install the Registry System:

  • RedHat Enterprise Linux (also works with Cent OS (free) )
  • Oracle RDBMS (works with all editions including FREE Express edition*)
  • Sun Java Systems Web Server (free) - commercial support available if required
  • Crystal Reports Technology (separate license may be required)
  • Sun Java (free)

On basic commodity Intel hardware (single front end & single back end server) it has been tested to scale to:

  • 100 EPP Transactions per second
  • 300 WhoIs Transaction per second
  • 100 DNS Updates per second

Using one of the wide range of supported deployment models, the systems performance and scalability can be finetuned to match the required performance levels ensuring that you are able to meet the needs of your registrars whilst maintaining your budget. The various deployment options include:

Single server

This diagram shows the Registry System as it might be deployed on a single server:

Single Server

In this configuration all of the Registry daemons are deployed on the same system as the Registry database. This reduces the server overhead requirement, and the network infrastructure required, but does not provide fault tolerance. It is therefore only suitable for small Registries with low transactional volumes.

Simple Multi-Server

This diagram shows the Registry System as it might be deployed on multiple servers:

Simple Multi Server

In this configuration all Registry daemons are deployed on the same server and the Registry database is deployed on a separate server. It does not however provide fault tolerance and is therefore suitable only for small Registries with low transactional volumes.

Redundant Multi-Server

This diagram shows the Registry System as it might be deployed on multiple redundant servers.

Redundant Multi Server

This configuration utilises network level load balancing of incoming connections to provide application services redundancy. Each application service operates independently and permits network level protections of critical services, such as EPP. Multiple database systems ensure the highest level of availability, with this setup able to utilise database high availability technology such as replication, Oracle Dataguard, or RAC (Real Application Clustering). Offering fault tolerance, high security and, depending on the hardware available, it is suitable for large Registry Systems with high transactional volumes.

*Limitations apply when using the system with Oracle Express Edition.
